The featured article for this post focuses on the slashing attack on a Ridgewood NJ woman. Although it is never a victim’s fault that someone attacks and victim shaming is not what we do here. The author makes some good points regarding this particular attack. The young lady read the danger signals and hoped she was wrong. This is common among victims, no one wants to look paranoid nor assumes that another human being is going to attack them out of the blue. What she did right was survive!

I agree with the survival math in the case except the final one. Most attackers are not like Perez and her screams may have saved her in a different scenario. I agree that her reason for screaming was incorrect thinking, but agree with her choice to scream against his instructions because most attackers do care if they are caught. In this case the attacker did not.
