Once the coop has been set up, a routine is in place for feeding and watering, the chore of cleaning out the droppings has been assigned and being carried out on a regular basis and you’re pretty well set to sit back and collect eggs! However one issue with free range chickens is keeping them on the range!

They don’t usually fly miles away but just outside the area we have created for them to safely wander. This little trick they play of “hopping” the fence puts them in danger of being attacked by other critters outside the safe zone you have created for them. To prevent loss via escapee’s you can carefully clip the flying feathers on the wings. To learn how to do so safely and to insure you cut the right feathers without harming the bird.
