A boat, a mud mucker, an ice-mobile, and a vehicle! The hovercraft could be the ultimate in post SHTF transportation.

This vehicle isn’t driven it is piloted because you are actually riding on a cushion of air rather than the ground itself. So before you build your own make sure you get a little training on piloting a craft. I am sure the laws change state to state and country to country but it is my understanding that even though they are off the surface vehicles larger versions are registered as boats and you may be required to obtain the same licenses and registrations as a boat and or an ATV. In some areas of the United States if they are built from a kit or a do it yourself project no licenses nor registration may be required at all. Do check your local laws before you begin.

Not only would this be a whole lot of fun to ride during normal times think of the post crisis uses! Floods, swamps, mud, icy conditions, off road to avoid traffic or to scavenge for supplies and this vehicle can take you there. Mickydee built his with his grandson for around $500 USD. Not only a great project for them to share but affordable as far as a vehicle goes. The uses could go well beyond just having fun. For the instructions and materials used in this project see the link below.
