I am sure you have seen these survival keychains everywhere that survival, wilderness, or camping gear is sold. So why go through the effort to make one yourself? They are pretty inexpensive overall. I did purchase one for a niece and my one concern about it, is that without unraveling the entire thing I can’t be sure what was advertised is actually in it! Now this niece of mine lives in the Midwest and near rivers and lakes. But what about those that don’t? The advertised fishing gear that is supposed to be inside wouldn’t do much good for my family in Arizona where fish are not readily available.

By DIY not only can you make it as large or as small as you like, customize the color or colors, insure what the contents are, but also choose what small supplies are contained within it! This design could hold, water purification tablets, a small jack knife, an extra battery, a few days of a needed medication etc… As long as it was small enough to fit on a keychain and sealed tightly before encasing in the paracord the sky is the limit!
