Non preppers often see a go bag and a bug out bag as the same thing. They can be if you want them to be, but they really shouldn’t be and for me they aren’t interchangeable.

My go bag is when I need to take off in a hurry and the reason is local and will most likely be short term. It includes things like my cell charger and other daily use electronics because to me it is for a time when I can’t get or be home but there are still services etc… I won’t be starting a fire to eat but will need some extra cash or a credit card to pay my way for a few days.

My bug out bag is for when I don’t know when I will be back and I feel there is a possibility that services won’t be available I am heading out into the unknown and whatever has driven me to bug out is more serious.

The featured article does cover the difference between the bags and gives some good advice on what your go bag should contain. See it linked below from Modern Survival Online
