This revolutionary design was introduced by the Dutch company Weltevree during the 2015 Milan Design week exhibition.

They refer to it as electricity free refrigeration but that description was intended for the general public. We are not the general public and already know what a root cellar is and how it functions. What makes this particular design of interest to us, is that it is prebuilt. This means no bricks or concrete required. You won’t need workmen, contractors, permits or lots of design and construction know how. One big hole dug by you or a backhoe and the dirt removed doesn’t even have to be hauled away it goes right back over the top to provide the necessary earth insulation to keep your new root cellar cool.
