Landscaping with Edible Shrubbery

Many preppers don’t live in rural areas where you can plant whatever you want wherever you want on your property. They have governing bodies called Homeowners Associations that dictate where and even if you can have a garden, what you can grow in a garden on your property, if you can plant trees, and what kind of trees are acceptable etc… My own daughter lives in a complex where she may have a garden, but it is against the HOA rules to grow vegetables in that garden she is allowed flowering plants only! So far, most HOA’s are ok with shrubbery and bushes if they are maintained within the height and width restrictions for that area.

So, if you have an HOA that is anti-gardening or just happen to live in an area where a garden wouldn’t fit in to the location or your lifestyle it doesn’t mean you are stuck only with the trees ok’d by your HOA! You can make your landscape lovely, within the guidelines and still be edible for you if needed! These shrubs are also animal friendly so you won’t poison the neighbor’s cat and some wildlife can call it home after a SHTF event when you would like to draw these possible food sources to your location. See top 10 shrubs for this purpose at the link below. You can now have curb appeal and later if you so choose dinner too!
