How sure are you that you and your family are ready for a long-term power outage?

I find there are always little things that turn into big things when you have forgotten them in advance! In only my personal opinion just shutting off the power for a day or so to test your abilities could be a good trial run. But when you have the knowledge that you have the ability to turn the power back on at will those little things previously overlooked could come to light but won’t impact you as greatly as they would if that knowledge and ability to turn it back on were not available.

No one intentionally plans particularly difficult chores or duties during the times when they know they are not going to have power and during an outage the tendency in my home, anyway, is to leave some of the more difficult challenges without power until power is restored. Those are just the things that will nab the unprepared when and if there ever is a long-term grid down situation. So, in truth the best we can do to prepare is to learn from our own experiences with outages and even better to learn from the experiences of others so that we don’t have to suffer through them ourselves.

We can do just that at the following link which gives 10 lessons learned by a family that experienced a multi-day power outage.
