Always check with your local laws before using bushcraft and primitive methods in a non-survival situation.

In a survival situation ammunition will become a valuable commodity. The less you can use when other options are available the better off you will find yourself. Primitive trapping is an old skill that needs to be revisited.

This particular trap known as the Paiute deadfall uses cordage rather than sticks alone in the more common four figure deadfall. Please always use extreme caution when trapping as unlike with traditional hunting with rifles or bows, the hunter doesn’t identify nor target directly his or her prey. The trap itself is deadly to what ever sets it off. With any passive dangerous weapon you are responsible to insure that when placing it that it is in an area where your pets, livestock and even children don’t wander into it. The trap itself can not distinguish between what you intend to trap and what you actually do.
