Human beings are mammals, and we tend to instinctively protect our young as do other mammals. By either aggressively attacking a threat or by fleeing the threat with our children closely in tow. Either way our parental instinct is to physically shield our child.

There are situations where we as humans could learn a few things from birds. They use a technic called a distractive display to protect their nests until such time as the threat is either on to their distraction or so close to the nest that it will be seen no matter what the mama bird does then like humans, they become aggressively protective.
