This a real common question and my answer is always the same… YES! More often than not if you need to bug out of a situation there has been an emergency that doesn’t, yet anyway, involve an economic collapse.

Why do I say that? Because if you are bugging out there is something going on that you can run from. There is no running from a sudden economic collapse. If economic collapse is the SHTF event, then you are much better off staying where you are.

If there is an economic collapse because of another crisis, you will have what I call a grace period. Your cash will be good for a while after the initial event. As a matter of fact, many unscrupulous people will be waiting to gouge you for your cash for needed supplies during the crisis expecting to make it a windfall after it dies down.

So, to me the real question is how much should you carry? Pat Henry over at our friends at the Prepper Journal site has some opinions on both carrying cash or not and how much. Read what he has to say on the subject at the link below
