Survival sites of all kinds discuss water safety all the time. Why? Because it is the number one need for human survival. It can also be the most deadly if not properly stored and purified before drinking.

Everyone in the USA has heard about what is loosely half jokingly called Montezuma’s revenge caused by drinking the water in some foreign countries. It actually isn’t funny when it happens! In the early 1980’s some friends and I made a trip to Mexico. Now in most resorts there the water is deemed to be safe. There is actually a law that requires the ice be made from purified water to help prevent this condition in foreign tourists. (People are very careful about actually drinking the water, but forget the little things like ice in their drinks or the water used when brushing their teeth etc… )  One  member of our group completely trusted that the brochure was completely accurate when they stated that the water was safe. The rest of us used bottled water for everything! She paid the price in a big way. If we had been in a survival scenario she would have died. I have no doubt of that! Immediately upon our return to the states she sought and received medical assistance requiring her to take a second more restful vacation in a hospital bed. It is not a joking matter for sure!

Learn as much as you can about making your drinking water safe! Read every article you come across and gather as much of the information as you can to retain as much of it as you are able. In an emergency scenario you may not have access to any written materials virtual or on paper. You will need to rely on your memory. You can start that reading process here with today’s featured article about what mistakes can easily be made and could make you very ill. See it linked below
