This SHTF event was brought to my attention by a reader. We don’t hear about nor see too many elevator accidents anymore, but when we do, they are horrific!

When you look at it logically an accident in an elevator can’t help but be a disastrous event for anyone involved. Flesh and blood humans trapped in a small square metal or metal and glass box held together and operated by metal mechanisms moving you through what can be very high spaces. If you look at the mechanical rate of failure of any machinery with automatic operating devices and I am shocked frankly that there are not more terrible accidents.

The incidents may be low of there being any failure worse than simply being stuck but when there is one……..it’s usually a dramatic incident. Who am I to assume that I am so lucky that I could never be that one in a million? Or looking at it as I am so special that I could be that one in a million doesn’t make the survival issues any more comforting! So, take a moment to take a read of what you can do to protect yourself as much as you can be in an elevator… just in case you are in the wrong one at the wrong time!
