I so believe in recycling of all our natural resources that I get excited whenever I come across a good article that helps us do so! This is one such article. We send gallons every day down our drain that could be recycled and reused directly by us, if done so with caution. Grey water is the water that gets dumped down our drains that isn’t totally contaminated. It’s the water from our washing machines (if biodegradable soaps are used) that runs in the sink when we brush our teeth, that drips from the leaky faucet we have been meaning to get repaired etc. It is not the sewage that drains when we flush a toilet or that has chemical additive residue in it after initial use. If we can recycle it ourselves prior to it draining through the pipes into the sewer system, we get two uses from it while paying only for the amount that came out of the tap itself.

My favorite method of using grey water myself is keyhole gardens which naturally filter the grey water into drinking water for the plants themselves. A very natural way of purifying it enough to make it healthy for the garden. You can see how to build one yourself and get more info on using grey water in this method at this link >> Keyhole Gardening

The featured article linked below gives you additional information on grey water, reusing it, and what you should be careful of when doing so. It could save you a ton of money and those in drought wrought areas will have plants and gardens that will thank you!
