FEMA camps do have a purpose. In a localized disaster they can be of real assistance in helping folks relocate or providing some shelter until the community recovers enough to take care of their own.

However, in other scenarios they can become dangerous areas to be, If there is a pandemic, staying in a camp situation is just foolish! Any illness would spread like wildfire in those conditions. They could very well be a secondary target for any terror or outside attack due simply to the number of people located within them. Many equate the FMA camp with the internment camps of WW2 and fear once inside their ability to leave at will would be impeded.
