I do really like having my herb garden indoors. But it does tend to kind of freak out non-gardening friends when I clip a bit of green off a plant sitting in the window and drop it nonchalantly into whatever dish I am preparing! Because they aren’t vegetable plants they aren’t always easily recognized as edible in their fresh form. I have on occasion answered “hemlock” or “poison ivy” in jest. 😛

Growing vegetables indoors is something relatively new to me. I did peppers last year and it was a great experience. So I am looking to do more this winter. This could be a real live saving bit of information to know post SHTF. If the weather is inclement at the time or if growing covertly is required. Also could help gardeners who now live in apartments or other small places without the space for an outdoor plot to get back to the hobby or back to self-sustainability.
