Locally the incidence of attempted armed carjacking has drastically increased. I am told this is not just an issue here but across the western world.

The last two incidents I heard about involved women stopped at stop lights who were approached by a pedestrian who pretended to be using the crosswalk to get close enough to the car to pounce. In both cases the women had all their doors locked and due to the weather, the windows rolled up. Both stepped on the gas and shot through the intersection leaving their would-be carjacker in the rearview mirror. But you can’t count on that same scenario!
