No appliance lasts forever. When the household refrigerator dies, most of us shake our heads and then open our pocketbooks and purchase a replacement making taking away the old one part of the deal or purchasing another and either haul the old one off to the dump or to our storage shed intending to dispose of it at a later date. But now we can make good use of that old refrigerator! Make it continue to work for us even after it no longer functions in its previous capacity.

A root cellar has become something no longer built in with modern day home construction.  Building one isn’t always inexpensive either even if you dig it yourself. Our friends over at Off the Grid News have come up with a use for those old refrigerators by converting it to a mini root cellar. One you can make yourself. See those instructions at the link below

How To Convert An Old Useless Refrigerator Into A Root Cellar

***Do make sure while doing this conversion and even after completion, that you ensure that access to the interior is restricted from children or pets who could become trapped inside and suffocate.
