This is another of my recent gear considerations. My daughter’s have been bugging me to get a couple of these for several camping seasons. I felt that if they stopped with the scented products while we were in the woods or near the water, they wouldn’t suffer so from mosquito bites and this was an unnecessary additional item to haul about. However, I am reminded by my better half that mosquitos aren’t just a inconvenience, but carry what can be deadly viruses. I myself noted an increase in the number of not just mosquitos but in bites suffered by all of us this last trip out.

I intensely dislike commercial mosquito repellant sprays and creams due to the smell they always leave behind and have concerns about the safety of putting any pesticide on our skin. So this little device could be worth it’s weight if it does what it claims to do. It certainly would make our woodland adventures more comfortable for sure!

So I am sharing with you the various models I located at a fairly reasonable cost to feel safer from mosquito carriers of illness and the reduction of both complaints and discomfort of my family and guests.

I found a similar one  at Walmart for $17.92 – Thermacell Mosquito Repellent Portable Repeller

and this one at Amazon for $23.03 – Thermacell MR-LJ Portable Mosquito Repeller

I am also reminded that they would be useful for summer barbeques, patio parties, hiking, fishing, hunting, ball games, while gardening, and all other outdoor activities that my family attends and enjoys. Never mind the survival uses when you are already stressed, uncomfortable and with a lower immune system making you more susceptible to the their nasty viruses.
