Instructions

Build your own herb garden from recycled materials. 1st you take a piece of scrap wood and cut to your specifications. Sand the cut edges, stain with your chosen color and coat with a sealer. (Eventually some water will be spilled!) Add hangers to the end you decide to will be the top.

Then remove any paper labels and clean your old liter plastic bottles (make sure they are food grade). Cut the tops off the bottles creating your pots how deep or shallow will depend on the size of the board you have chosen. Screw the created containers to the board in intervals big enough to allow some distance between your plants. If you plan to feed the seedling with dirt, you may want to use at least 2 screws to allow for the weight of wet dirt in the containers.

Before ‘planting’ if you desire stencil on the herb names above, below or next to the containers.

Wrap your seeds in wet cotton and place in the appropriate labeled container. Hang your herb garden in a warm sunny spot.

Once a seedling has sprouted you will have to decide if your going to feed your plant with water and added nutrient supplements or planting soil with normal regular watering. (Water and sun in cotton alone does not provide enough nutrients to sustain a plant)

When your herb plants are big enough, cut and use fresh as needed or cut way back and dehydrate for later use. Leave enough of the plant and all the root to continue to have herbs year round.

They regrow very quickly and eventually you may want to thin them some to insure you continue to get the best crop.
