Foolish Questions from the Non-Prepper

My own mother is actually a prepper and taught all her children the basics while at her knee. But the label “prepper” isn’t one she understands or acknowledges. She was a prepper before the term existed! When I first explained to her the nature of this site and what we are trying to accomplish here…. her first question was one of the foolish ones asked by non-preppers! “OMG you haven’t become one of those crazy conspiracy theorists, have you?”  “No Mom, I haven’t” Then I proceeded to explain what the term means outside the image of the Doomsday Preppers she sees on TV. Her response? “You mean there is special word for it? I have been doing most of that all my life! What will happen to those people if they aren’t prepared?” Her concern was genuine, and she still isn’t sure I am not on the most wanted list. 🙂 When I explained that only a fraction of the population could make it through more than 3 days during a crisis, she shook her head as only the experienced elderly can when they are thinking those crazy kids and are referring to those old enough to know better!

Van Prepper has also heard the term “prepper” misunderstood and has been asked some seriously sad questions by those who don’t understand that the lifestyle is simply one of self-reliance. Watch the videos below for the questions and comments he has replied to.  It is indeed educational as to what many think of prepping! They could assist you in explaining to others what it is to prep.

A good response to the most common non-prepper foolish comment of all…. ” I know where I am going if the SHTF, YOUR HOUSE!” and what skills he would require to allow them in.
