How Long Does Food Storage Last?

You’ve stocked up and made sure you have everything you and your family will need to ride out a crisis. Now How long can you keep that storage in rotation prior to it losing nutritional value. or worse yet go bad altogether?

The chart below lists some basic long term storage items along with how long you can expect to store them. I do wish everything lasted as long as the wheat does! I would like to store some of the other items like rolled oats for a long term disaster but can’t store enough to see us through a long term crisis while rotating it with our current use items. We really don’t eat a lot of oats now, but in times of crisis it has always been a comfort and back up supply item for my family. It’s filling and inexpensive. I have found that dry canning or pre-storage freezing does help some thinks like oats to last a bit longer.
