What is “quaranteaming”? It’s now the name for what folks are doing to prevent themselves and/or family and friends from having to hunker down alone. How it’s done and a bit about those that are doing it is discussed in our featured article linked below.

Here on the Homefront we did something similar before it had a name! It’s now been dubbed a “germ pod”. In our unique situation (and everyone’s situation is different), I have an adult daughter who is an essential worker. This daughter has a boyfriend who isn’t working due to the pandemic. Of course they want to be together, but each also has family responsibilities. So rather than asking them to choose a location and stay there only. We each did two weeks of a complete lock down in our own homes to insure no one in either family had been infected and now we only associate outside our family group with the other family group. When his sister and her husband and child wanted to join the group, they did their 2 weeks in isolation and now they are part of the group as well. Most importantly this allows us to protect our vulnerable family members. While allowing our children to have the companionship of each other and for us to assist each other with things that inevitably will happen even during a pandemic, sharing tools and having an extra set of hands on a repair for example.  Part of the reason that this works for us is that we all get along and my daughter’s job allows her to safely social distance and when she does work with another employee or member of the public her employer has provided her with PPE.

So check out how other germ pods are being formed and about those quaranteaming by continuing at the link.
