The best way to avoid the trials and tribulations of being stranded is of course to avoid being stranded in the first place! Good vehicle maintenance, remaining observant of the gas gage, and always making sure someone knows where to look should you go missing. But even with the best laid plans things can and do go wrong.

Being prepared for the worst is what we preppers do! I admit I thought I was completely prepared for a break down and being stranded, until I was! I spent 7 long dark hours on a back road with an engine problem prior to being rescued. I was absolutely comfortable due to the preps I already had in the vehicle. However, I did discover a few things that could have made my situation less lengthy and less expensive in the aftermath. Learning from experience I now feel better prepared!

Are you prepared to be stranded for any length of time?  What about if you should have children with you at the time? Always better safe than sorry! See what others recommend you prep for being stranded. But always put your safety above any other concerns!
