Single Parent Prepping

As single parents we carry even more than a double load. Not only do you play the part of both Mom and Dad, but in order to measure up you must carry that load better than would a two parent family.  The disintegration of the parent’s marriage or partnership is difficult enough without the disintegration of co-parenting as well.

If both parents are preppers it can make the job of prepping for the child easier if each accepts a level of responsibility for the child in an emergency situation. It is a more expensive project as everything has to be doubled so the child is protected at both homes and if the parents are really committed to insure the well being of the child or children they have agreed upon and share responsibility for a joint bug out or bug in location so that the child/children have both parents and the parents work together to insure their children get through the crisis as unscathed as possible.

Sadly too often that is not the case and the parents find basic co-parenting a very difficult task and the looming expansion of those duties to include disaster preparedness to much cooperation required between the parents. So the primary custodial parent usually takes on the bulk of the prepping for the child and if the other parent does also prep he/she does so at a lesser level than the custodial parent.

So this leaves the question is single parenting prepping less and therefore weaker than two parent families?

The featured article below speaks to that question so continue reading at the link below
