A couple in Sweden decided to take full advantage of their desire to save on energy bills and grow year round. Located in Stockholm where the winters are particularly long, the need for a greenhouse if you desire to grow the bulk of your own food is obvious. The idea of building said greenhouse to enclose your home is less so. However, after the initial shock of considering the huge job of keeping all that glass clean, it’s an idea that otherwise makes sense. Not only can they now grow year round, but the greenhouse keeps their living space at an even temperature of 60 degrees.

With the small portion of land enclosed along with their home, they also acquire the ability to use that outdoor space year round. That may not seem to be such a great asset unless you have small children and have 9 months of winter each year! They even removed the now not necessary roof from the home which allows them to literally sleep under the stars each night if they wish!
