To some of you this may seem to be old news. When this problem first became an issue a few years ago, I thought it was being over exaggerated and waited to see what the results of the hearings in Colorado would be. I’d heard that the issue the state had with the off grid community was sanitation etc. The hearings in Colorado did indeed put in place regulations preventing camping on private property without a permit then began denying the permits!  It appears that the practice of denying renewal or refusing to issue camping permits applies equally to those with appropriate sewer and garbage disposal as to those without.

Many people bring in a trailer to reside in on their property while they build their primary residence or as their primary residence are now being told to get off their own land and not to come back until a traditional home has been erected. It is and always has been my opinion that as long as you are not disturbing your neighbors enjoyment of their private property you should have the right to do as you wish on your own legally owned property!
