I had never considered eating tree leaves, never mind battering and frying them until I came across this recipe. I happen to have a couple of Japanese Maple trees on my property and love just about anything tempura battered so I am definitely going to test this recipe. It could be a great survival food if you have the basic batter ingredients in a bug in situation and I am told it is a popular snack food in Japan today.
