Making my own cleaning products was one of the first ways I began prepping! I didn’t even realize it was prepping at the time. My thought process was that I didn’t want a bunch of unknown chemicals flying about my home in the air nor did I want to spend a ton of money on cleaning products that I could make myself. Like everyone else I have better use of the funds than cleaning supplies!

It started for me when I realized that with all the fillers in laundry soap that it took a 1/2 cup of purchased product to the same job as a single spoonful of homemade! As time went on I learned more and more about making my own personal use products from laundry soap to face moisturizer. I don’t always use all non commercial products to make my homemade products but they are basic and time tested ingredients that I trust.

I stock these simple items rather than a box full of store bought cleaners because I know that hygiene will be an important aspect of life after a crisis and because frankly I want to continue to keep my personal space as tidy as possible when I can’t just hop over to the market and pickup what I am out of.

This particular article is more about that kind of homemade products and focuses less on the natural ingredients but it can still save you a lot of money over the years and as you learn these recipes and alter them to best suit your household. I think you may find yourself as I did, going more natural as you develop confidence in the MIY products you produce at home.

There are three natural cleaners that we tend to over look in our modern grab it off the shelf mentality when purchasing cleansers. I have found through my own trial and error that I am able to replace some of the store bought ingredients in these recipes with a natural substitute.
