Rates of domestic violence from child abuse to spousal abuse always raise during times of crisis. This crisis will probably see it raise higher than usual because most of the country is under stay at home orders.

Children are out of school and at home, younger children often in day care while their parents work are also at home while their parents are on furlough or have been laid off. Spouses are both at home and adults are consuming more alcohol than when they were working. Add the stress of social distancing and financial crisis and you have a deadly situation brewing,

Most people when they think of domestic violence think of women, but this is a scenario that can apply to any member of the family. Men are less likely to report the abuse and with the stay at home orders in place elders and children may not be able to reach out for help nor would the signs of abuse be noted by others. Chances are you may know someone silently suffering and aren’t aware of the situation.
