What You Need To Know About Earthquake Safety

I worry about earthquakes. First I live in an area prone to small shakes (as we call them) and are long over due a bad one. Secondly it has been a while since a huge quake hit our country and people tend to forget the devastation when it stops directly affecting them and it falls out of the news cycle.

Those directly affected don’t quickly recover nor do the effects stop when the shaking does. I know what I did the last time we had a larger than normal “shake” was most often perhaps not the appropriate response… I froze and accessed that I couldn’t get out of the building without putting myself in further danger from falling objects. I did not take into account the window directly behind me! If that window had burst as they can during quakes I would have been in a world of hurt. So what should we do to remain safe during a quake?
